Different Types of Hair Classifications

Hair is a distinguishable part of just about anyone’s appearance. No matter how much hair you have, it is something that people notice about you right away and can impact your complete look. Not only can the length and color of your hair vary, but the type of hair can also be different among different people. Hair is classified in many different ways if you are looking to learn more about your hair to make styling and hair care simpler, you need to know exactly how and why hair is classified.

Here are some of the different hair classifications that exist:

What is Your Hair Type?

Your hair may be on your head, but this does not mean that you are fully aware how it is classified. More people than you even realize don’t actually know what their real hair type is. Hair can be classified in a number of ways, which can be confusing for some. When you know exactly what type of hair you have, it is easier to use just the right products and create the right style.

Straight Hair

This is a classification of hair that is very common. Straight hair is often defined as hair that is more loose and free hanging. It is often referred to as sleek and is more prone to being oil. When you are caring for hair that is classified as straight, you don’t have to be quite as careful because it is difficult to damage. Since straight hair is naturally sleek and straight, it does not always hold a curl.

Wavy

Another type of hair is known as wavy. This is the classification for hair that is in between curly and straight. Wavy hair is known for thicker and coarse in some areas. It is not always an easy hair type to style and often does not have a lot of bounce or volume. It is shinier than typical curly hair, but does not have quite as much shine as straight hair. If you have wavy hair, it is possible to have a lot of issues with frizz. By using products that are designated for wavy hair, you can lessen the amount of frizz that you have to deal with.

Curly

This type of hair is known for being bouncy and often times very voluminous. Most people with this type of hair have well defined hair and have to use hair products for curly hair only.
