Enrollment Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must have completed at least the 7th grade with proof or have a high school diploma or GED.

Must schedule an appointment with Administrative Services to register.

Must present a valid picture I.D. at registration.

Must pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of $150.00 at registration.

OG’s School of Hair Design proudly provides quality instruction to our students and excellent service to the community. We teach the art and science of cutting all types of hair, as well as the ‘Theory of Hair Coloring’, ‘Theory of All Chemical Services’, and preparation for the State Board Examination.

OG’s School of Hair Design (OG’s) offers a total learning environment encompassing the traditional and non-traditional forms of education and training in the art and science of barbering and hair design. Our mission is to provide an environment that will meet the needs of a very diverse group of individuals, and to make sure that the students succeed by requiring that they achieve and maintain “A Standard of Excellence” that will aid them in passing the State Board examination, succeed in the workplace, and support the community and surrounding Central Texas area by providing the highest standard of services at affordable prices.

We proudly provide quality instructions to our students and excellent services to the community. We teach the art and science of cutting all types of hair, as well as the ‘Theory of Hair Coloring’, ‘Theory of All Chemical Services’, and preparation for the State Board Examination.

Barber classes are open to veteran and non-veteran students, and begin the second Tuesday of every calendar quarter (March, June, September and December). The program is six (6) months long, consisting of two (2) semesters, and requires a student to clock 1000 hours, and complete all practical applications required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

What does the $10,500.00 cost of the Texas Class A Barber program cover?

TDLR Permit and Rule book, tool kit, tuition fees, instructional materials, two (2) uniforms, two (2) photos, and two (2) name badges.

How much does the program cost?

The Texas Class A Barber training program costs is $10,500.00.

How do I pay for the program?

(The payment information below is for Self-Pay Non-Veteran students only.)  Students with special needs may qualify for financial assistance through the Texas Workforce Commission.  Visit www.twc.texas.gov for more information.

$150.00 Non-Refundable Enrollment Fee is due at the time of registration.
$3,150.00 Due the first day of class. This includes: $2,535 for toolkit, uniforms,
books, student permit, and pictures, as well as $615.00 for the first
month’s tuition.

Remaining $7,200.00 Tuition Payment Plan
Six (6) payments of $1200.00 due no later than the 10th day of the current month.
NOTE: If tuition is not paid by the 10th day of the month, the student will not be permitted to clock in.

OR

Three (3) payments of $2400 may be made. The first payment is due 30 days after the start date of class, then 30 days thereafter until paid in full.

OR

Full balance of $10,350.00 may be paid on the first day of class.

NOTE:  Currently financial aid is not available; however, eligible veteran students may apply for Veterans Education Benefits.  OG’s has a Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Advisor on staff that is available to veteran students who enroll.

What happens when I complete the Texas Class A Barber training program?

You will be eligible to take the written portion of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Texas Class A Barber Examination after completing 900 classroom hours with passing grades; and the practical portion of the examination after the completion of the program at 1000 classroom hours. You must pay a licensing fee to TDLR prior to registering for an exam. Once you pass the TDLR examination, you will be licensed by the State of Texas as a Class A Barber.

NOTE: The fees for each of these exams are not covered by program fees paid to OG’s School of Hair Design.
